How well do your local healthcare services meet your needs?
Access to healthcare is a fundamental need for us all but despite the most recent GP survey finding that most patients reported positively about their contact with their GP practice, there are still many of us who find it challenging to access the necessary services. The obstacles to accessing GP care can come in many different forms such as a lack of information, limited contact options and cultural factors. As part of an initiative to acknowledge the disproportional use of our healthcare services we want to hold conversations with our communities and truly understand why this is the case.
Health inequality is widespread and spans across geographical areas as well as smaller, specific communities. Having identified several of these areas, we want to take action in areas of deprivation known to have lower health outcomes. By engaging with our own communities we aim to understand why there are such inconsistencies in the way we access healthcare and the barriers which create such disparity.
