A day in the life of our digital marketing apprentice.

What do you do for a living?

Hi there! I’m Poppy and I support the digital marketing at Vandu. My job description includes, marketing and administrative support for the team. I work closely with my office manager to create new marketing strategies and ideas! We have an open floor plan in our work space and lots of informal problem-solving and brainstorming going on at all times of the day. Being able to work with the Vandu office team and freelance professionals is a real pleasure, we are one big family.

What is your morning routine like?

The alarm bell sounds at 6.30am, and after a coffee I head out the door! I never used to be a morning person, and I still can’t really talk to anyone before coffee, but I have truly come to love getting up early. For me enjoying your job is key to feeling positive when waking up in the morning.

What are you typically doing at 10am?

One great part of my job is there is no “typical” at 10am. I could be arranging an interpreter for an emergency appointment, blogging and creating new website content or updating social media. Depending on the day of the week there may be a morning meeting in which we share group activity and come to business decisions. I get to work as part of a fun and friendly team, but also have the opportunity to meet new and varied people every day.

What’s for lunch?

Sometimes I’ve got leftovers from the night before. More often, it’s salad with smoked salmon or chicken! Lunch is definitely an “area of opportunity” for me, it’s a time where I can collect my thoughts and catch up with the office team.

Where would we find you at 3pm?

The end of the day can be as unpredictable as the beginning, so being organised and efficient is key to meeting deadlines. In the afternoon I’ll be liaising with our freelance professionals, getting jobs assigned, researching the latest marketing techniques and catching up with emails. My favourite afternoon was recently spent at Pelham House where the office was relocated for the day with wonderful views of the grounds.

What is the best part of what you do every day?

I feel lucky to have a fantastic job which involves helping people, sometimes in critical situations. One of the greatest parts of the job is having the opp

ortunity to build relationships with customers and the satisfaction you feel when their expectations have been met. We have just had a year 10 student on work experience with us, showing her the inside of our office and watching her customer service skills improve was extremely rewarding.

At the end of the day, when I get to spend time with friends and family, is also very important to me.
